program or its parts, are take completely by the person using it. No warranty
comes with this software. Please you disagree with the above, please do not
touch/use the program.
FLPRO may be circulated freely provided that it MUST be re-distributed in its
most original form. NO files may be modified nor they can be removed. No extra
fee should be charged. Cost of diskette may be charged at a minimum amount of
S$5. It may not be included in Commercial Software Libraries. FLPRO is released
under the Shareware concept. Read section on registeration for details.
FLPRO and FileList Pro refers to all executable files and documentations.
Introduction
FileList Pro was started in 1990 to kill time (really!). I was rather bored
and tried to attempt new things until i came to FLPRO idea. The first version
was 2.3.1 which wasn't a good one. Tons of bugs are loaded, although it does
work and i was using it myself. Speed was also a problem, FLPRO 3.2.1 was slow.
Then there was a version 3.2 in early 1991 (if my memory is good). It was
released as freeware! But still, that was not my ideal software. Modifications
were made until one day when my harddisk crashed (no FLPRO backup). I rewrote
the whole thing and came version 4.0 (unreleased) to be beta tested by my beta
testers. Followed was 4.01, 4.02 then 4.03 - the released beta testing version.
Now, version 4.30 is released mainly as a major-bug-fix version with some new
features. Version 4.31 is just a minor bug fix release 2 days after 4.30.
It now supports both Remote Access 1.XX (FILES.RA) and Fido v12 (AREAS.INI)
and all other FILES.BBS systems (eq. SBBS, Maximus, QBBS, Opus, OPENLink etc.)
Doing many things that you found in your dreams and now in reality.

How to Use
FLPRO should be quite easy to setup as there are no configuration files are
needed.
Usage:
FLPRO [+fido] [+fast] /[actions] /[options]
To tell FLPRO that you are using Fido v12's AREAS.INI, you will have to add
+FIDO in your commandline when running FLPRO. For RemoteAccess systems, you
need not specify a particular parameter for it. FLPRO assumes that you are
using a RA1.10 system by default.
By using the +FAST parameter, the introduction (FLPRO) screen will be skipped.
Useful if you wish to save time running the program. Anyway, the intro screen
is only there for decorations. Looks better? :-)
* Global Options * (Can be used by both Fido12 and RA 1.1 users)
Actions:
/A[filespec] Generate all files list. [filespec] is the filename to list
the files. default filename is ALLFILES.LST. [filespec] is
optional.
eq. /AFILES.TXT
/F[filespec] Adopt unlisted files. If a file is present in your directory
but not listed in Files.Bbs, using this function will append
the filename to Files.Bbs. [filespec] is optional which is
the file-adopt control file. The control file contains all
the filenames that you do not want to be adopted into
Files.Bbs. If not control filename is specified, FLPRO will
adopt all files. PS: control may only contain up to 5,000
filenames.
eq. /FADOPT.CTL or just /F
/C Arrange Download Counters. In this version, only [##]
counters are being used. Others like (##), <##> etc. will not
be recognised. By using this option, if a counter is not
present on any listed files, FLPRO will add [ 0] to it.
If you have things like [4], FLPRO will change it to [ 4] and
so on.
example -
old files.bbs:
FLPRO38B.ZIP RA1.00 Filebase enhancement v3.8b
new files.bbs:
FLPRO38B.ZIP [ 0] RA1.00 Filebase enhancement v3.8b
/Z Remove all download counters from FILES.BBS
Sometimes you may like to reset all the counters to zero,
you can use this option which will remove all [##] from the
files list. To place back [ 0], you can use option /C again.
PS: You shouldn't use both /C and /Z at a time. But FLPRO will exit itself when
you do this.
/H[filespec] Add header to Files.Bbs; after reading through each directory
FLPRO will add a header which contain the summary of the
files in that directory - size, number of files etc.
[filespec] is the header control which contains your own
structure of header if you wish to design it yourself. Read
section on header control file for furthur details.
default example -
FileList Pro v4.03ß+
┌─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ #50 - International Programmers Exchange Updated on 11-27-1991 │
│ Online files : 26 (1737 KB) Offline files : 0 (0 KB) │
═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
P.S. The first and last last line of the header must not be
altered as they tells FLPRO where to start and where to
end.
/X[filespec] Clear up wanted strings in file descriptions. [filespec] must
be given or else it won't run as [filespec] contains the
unwanted strings. FLPRO won't know what you don't want if
there are no control file. This is useful when your users
often enter vulgar descriptions, ANSI codes or anything you
dislike. All unwanted strings will be replaced with "X"s.
/S[filespec] Generate filebase statistics file. This function will tell
FLPRO to read through the directories and create a summary of
your filebase's statistics. The number of online/missing
files and size will be included. The total will also be
calculated.
example -

/P[filespec] Generate popular downloaded files. This function WILL ONLY
WORK if you have download counters in your files.bbs! FLPRO
analyses the most popular file with the download counters
which indicates the number of times that file has been
downloaded. PS up to 10,000 files only.

/V[x] Convert FILES.RA to Flsearch.Ctl or Areas.ini. Obviously, you
must have a RA 1.XX Files.Ra to make it work. x can be 1 or 2
where :
1 - Flsearch.Ctl (QBBS)
2 - Areas.ini (Fido 12)
if x is not supplied, 1 is set to default. This option is
most useful when you are using Fido or QBBS utilities which
requires to have these files. Certain Fido utilities requires
a compiled Areas.Ini (Fido.Sys) generated by SET-FIDO.EXE, it
is available in all Fido BBS releases.
/R|n|m|r Sort Files.Bbs in alphabetical order.
(up to 5,000 files per file area only)
/R or /Rn is to sort in the normal way. Aware of remarks (lines
beginning with a space, dash or empty line, ignore all
remarks and only sort filenames.
/Rm is to sort with multi-line-descriptions-aware method.
All lines beginning with 20 spaces or more will be
classified as a multi-line-description. They will be
treated as part of the filename before it. Filenames
are sort normally.
/Rr Raw sorting. FLPRO will sort just like DOS' SORT.EXE
and ignore all whatever remarks etc. The whole files.bbs
will be sorted altogether. Note that this option will
mix all the remarks and filenames together.
Examples
PS: Examples are listed as files.bbs structure. Lines beginning with 20 spaces
are susposed to be multi-line descriptions.
Before any sort:
- Area #10 - Ridiculous files directory
FILE2.ZIP [00] More about files.
Advance knowledge on files.
Why must we have files?
FILE1.ZIP [00] File all about files
Tells you everything you want
to know about files.
After /Rm sort:
- Area #10 - Ridiculous files directory
FILE1.ZIP [00] File all about files
Tells you everything you want
to know about files.
FILE2.ZIP [00] More about files.
Advance knowledge on files.
Why must we have files?
(Note that the long-spaced remarks are assumed to be multi-line descriptions)
After /R or /Rn sort:
- Area #10 - Ridiculous files directory
FILE2.ZIP [00] More about files.
Advance knowledge on files.
Why must we have files?
FILE1.ZIP [00] File all about files
Tells you everything you want
to know about files.
(Note that the multi-descriptions are ignored and treated as normal remarks,
they are ignored)
------------------------------------------------------------------
After /Rr or DOS' SORT.EXE process:
FILE1.ZIP [00] File all about files
FILE2.ZIP [00] More about files.
- Area #10 - Ridiculous files directory
Advance knowledge on files.
Tells you everything you want
to know about files.
Why must we have files?
(Note that raw sort and other sorters are not aware of files.bbs remarks or
multi-line descriptions)
Before any sort:
FILETXT2.ZIP [00] Text on Files #2
DEF.ZIP [00] List of other 13 alphabets!
FILETXT1.ZIP [00] Text on Files #1
HACKRA.ZIP [00] Register your own RA copy!
ABC.ZIP [00] List of all 13 alphabets!
- Other programs
HACKQBBS.ZIP [ 0] Register your own QBBS copy!
HACKZMSG.ZIP [ 0] Register your own ZMAIL copy!
MODEMF.ZIP [ 0] Free modems to give AWAY!

DEF.ZIP [00] List of other 13 alphabets!
FILETXT1.ZIP [00] Text on Files #1
FILETXT2.ZIP [00] Text on Files #2
HACKRA.ZIP [00] Register your own RA copy!
- Other programs
HACKQBBS.ZIP [ 0] Register your own QBBS copy!
HACKZMSG.ZIP [ 0] Register your own ZMAIL copy!
MODEMF.ZIP [ 0] Free modems to give AWAY!
(Note that both multi-line and normal sort produce the same result for
this kind of files.bbs structure where no multi-line descriptions exist)
------------------------------------------------------------------
After /Rr or DOS's SORT.EXE process:
- Other programs
ABC.ZIP [00] List of all 13 alphabets!

/Rr command only comes useful when you wish to merge two groups of files
in files.bbs (you may have grouped the files in one files.bbs with spaces).
/L License Info. Whether your copy is registered. If not,
what should you do.
Options:
/B[x] Begin process at filearea x. If x is 2, FLPRO will start with
file area #2 and ignore all areas before it.
eq. /B10
/E[x] Ends process at filearea x. If x is 5, FLPRO will stop
process at file area #5 and ignore all areas after it.
eq. /E5
/O[x] Process only area x. If x is 1, only file area #1 will be
processed. All others are ignore.
eq. /O1
/$[x1,x2,..] Exclude areas #x1, #x2 and so on up to 20 areas possible.
eq. /$1,5,12,31 to exclude areas 1, 5, 12 and 31.
PS: If /B, /E and /O are not specified, all areas will be processed by default
/N[x] Number of days to be considered as new files. List ONLY
new files in all files list. By using this options, your
all files list will only contain files that are dated within
x days from present date.
eq. /N5
/D Do not include remarks in All files list. Meaning all the
lines in Files.bbs that are started with a space or "-" will
not be listed in the all files list. If this option is not
specified, all remarks will be included.
/T Do not add file area title in all files list. By doing this,
FLPRO will not place the file area name at the top of each
directory's list in the all files list. Default, FLPRO WILL
add titles.
/K[x] Number of popular downloads to be included in Popular
Downloads List. With this, you can tell FLPRO how many top
files to be listed in top download list. x is the number.
eq. /K30
/Q Back up Files.Bbs before writing new information. Use this if
you want to play safe in case data corruption occurs.
* Upload/Download options * (for RA 1.10 and compatible logfile users only)
Actions:
/W|s Read RA log and update download counters in files.bbs By
using /Ws, all the unlisted files that are downloaded will be
skipped. Or else, FLPRO will append a new line with the file
in your files.bbs. s option is optional. When the counter
reachs 100, it will be reset to 1.
/U|s|@listform#@ Read RA log and add uploaders' name in Files.Bbs By adding
`s' (eq. /Ws), all the unlisted uploads will (usually private
uploads) will be skipped. Or else, FLPRO Will append a new
line with the filename. s option is optional. With
@listformat#@ option, you can change the default layout of
uploaders name in Files.Bbs. The format should be started
with a @ and ended with it too.
# in the line indicates the location of the uploader name.
^ will be replaced by a CR+LF (ASC13+ASC10)
$ replaced by 5 spaces.
/v/ v is a numerical value. /v/ will be replaced with an
ascii character v. useful to display characters that
cannot be used in batch file like |<> etc.
eq. /Us@(Uploaded by: #)@ < -- skip unlisted files
/U@(Uploaded by: #)@ < -- add unlisted files
/U@/v/#/v/@ < -- ASC1 followed by the uploader
name and then another ASC1
/U < -- add unlisted files, default
format
/U@^; #@ <-- display uploaders name in 2nd
line.
example -
BOLO1000.ZIP [ 0] Silly lunatic simulator (Uploaded by: Tony Norton)
default -
BOLO1000.ZIP [ 0] Silly lunatic simulator; Tony Norton
Options:
/J Join first and last names. With this, uploaders' names will
be joined. example: Tony Wong becomes Tony-Wong and Lim Eng
Kiat becomes Lim-Eng-Kiat. This is useful so that RA will not
seperate the name when wrapping long lines. The whole name
will be wrapped to the next line.
/M[path] This option is REQUIRED or else FLPRO will not run with /U
action. [path] is your upload directory where all the files
received from users are located at.
eq. /MC:\FILES\UPLOADS
/G[filespec] RA's log filename. Default is RA.LOG but if you are using
another name, you'll be needed to use this option. If
the logfile is not found in current directory, FLPRO will
search for RA= environment for Ra's directory. Pathname and
directory name may also be used in [filespec]
eq. /GC:\RA\LINE2\SYSTEM.LOG
/GBBS.LOG
/I Use uploader's initials instead of full name. example: Lai
Zit Seng will become L.Z.S.
/Y Read "compact" style RA logfile (also called frontdoor log in
RA 1.00). Default setting is "expanded" (opus/verbose). You
must specify this if you are NOT using expanded log or else
you WILL encouter problems.
P.S. All logfiles after processed will be appened to *02.LOG file. The
processed file will be deleted. That means if the original logfile is
RA.LOG then it will be renamed to RA02.LOG and FILENAME.LOG will be
renamed to FILENA02.LOG
Defaults:
Allfiles : ALLFILES.LST
Header control : none
Statistics file : FILESTAT.ASC
Popular file list : POPDL.ASC

Simple AREAS.INI Structure
Not all of Fido12's AREAS.INI file is needed by FileList Pro to run. FLPRO will
only check for 2 keywords in this file : "FileArea=" and "D="
Each line of this line consist of data for _ONE_ file area. Example:
Filearea="C:\UPLOAD" D="Upload Directory"
Filearea="C:\COMM" D="Data Communications"
Where "filearea=" contains the file path and "D=" contains the file area
name/description.
AREAS.INI is simply a plain ASCII text file so any BBS software users will be
able to create one. Remember to use +FIDO option while running FLPRO to tell
the program to read the AREAS.INI file.
Header Control File
The header control file allows you to design your own headers! Several keywords
can be used to display different information of the directory.
Key Description Characters
%T Current Time 5
%D Current Date 9
%N Area Number (from left) 3
%U Area Number (from right) 3
%A Area Name (from left) 30
%R Area Name (from right) 30
%F Number of on-line files (from left) 4
%I Number of on-line files (from right) 4
%S Directory Size / KiloBytes (from left) 5
%Z Directory Size / KiloBytes (from right) 5
%O Number of off-line files (from left) 4
%L Number of off-line files (from right) 4
%% Display percentage sign "%" 1
Example:
(----5----10---5----20---5---30) <-- Number of characters
Upload Directory <-- Area Name from left
Upload Directory <-- Area Name from right
Note that FLPRO will leave a line of 75 x ASCII# 205 at the end of all headers
to signify the end of the header.
A sample control file is provided for your reference.
All files list structure
If you didn't use option /T to disable directory info in allfiles list, the
generated list should look something like this:
■ Area # 1 ■ User Recent Uploads
